Good Morning everyone. I hope you all had a lovely weekend. We are on our last week of school now before our Summer break. 🌞
This week again  you will find your activities for the week posted and sent to your parents on the
Aladdin App. These activities are optional .  This weeks activities are mainly fun worksheets and if you wish to try them that would be great. I would be delighted to see your work and give you feedback if you wish to send it to me. Well done to everyone on their work last week. You did a great job. It was lovely to see how you all got on with the worksheets and  what you are reading.
Have a good final week. Try to get your work finished by Thursday evening so you can have a fun day on Friday. On Friday you should try to play outside, do some art, bake something nice at home with your parents or even watch a movie. Take care!

Good morning all. I hope you enjoyed another weekend of lovely sunshine.
Again this week your activities for the week will be posted and sent to your parents on the

Feel free to try my activities but there is no pressure to do so. If you wish to return samples or pictures of your work you may and I would be delighted to see how you are getting on.

Literacy: Try to continue to read each week. I have sent you the links on the Aladdin App for you use the class log in (name and password) on the Oxford Owl reading website. These log in details are the same each week. Your parents may help you to do this. You may choose a suitable book to read and enjoy. Here is the link https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/ Choose the section My Class Log in (top of the page). Then type in the class name and password I sent you on the Aladdin App. Enjoy a good book! All my groups should feel free to try any of the websites suggested  below or on the school website. Remember to only use the internet with the guidance of your parents and to stay safe on line. If you cannot print the activities I have suggested on the Aladdin App just write the work or answers on a copy or a page.

Here is a booklet that might be of use to parents in creating a daily plan / schedule for your child during this school closure. It is available on the website https://www.education.ie/en/The-Department/Announcements/guide-for-parents-supporting-children.pdf

Monday 27th April:
Good Morning everyone. I hope you all had a nice weekend. Here below I have listed some activities you may like to work on this week.
There is no obligation to complete all or any of these activities as I am aware you have other classwork activities from your class teacher too. I am also very conscious that your homes are very busy places at the moment and not everyone has someone to help them out and not everyone has access to laptops/ipads and the internet. Feel free to give these a go if you like.

I have also set up an email account for this period of Covid-closure should your parents need to contact me or wish to send me samples of your work. Your parents can email me at:
mrsmonaghan2020@gmail.com

Literacy / English:
I will continue to ask you to read every day. 1st and 2nd Class can aim to read for about 10-15 minutes per day. 3rd and 5th Class you can aim to read for about 15 - 25 minutes per day. You can use your own books at home or read from some of the websites I have mentioned before. You may like to try other reading websites you see on the school website or any other appropriate reading websites you enjoy using yourself.

I use this website a lot and I have set up access for you to use it too.
Click on this link https://www.getepic.com/students
Open in the students section.
Your log in class code is hcd9374
Select your name from the list and start reading. There are lots of books to choose from and even some audio books to listen to.

I have also set up a write reader activity for you all to try. It is an activity where you get to write your own books. It is good fun. You can add a title to each page, a picture and write some text. Be as creative as you like.
This week I would like you to play around with this website and write a little book called "All about me." You can include your  name, age, description, family, friends, favourite hobbies, foods, colours, pets etc. Add as much detail and as many pictures as you like. It's just for fun and there is no pressure on anyone to do this task.

To log on you click on this link https://www.writereader.com/en.
Then click on get started icon.
Choose the students log in section. Your username is your name e.g. Anne or James. Your class code is ebmv
Have some fun with this. Make as many books as you like. I will give you new titles to try next week.

Maths / Numeracy:
I will continue you to practice your numbers 1 - 20 (1st Class), numbers 1 - 100 (2nd Class), your tables (2nd Class and 5th Class).
I will ask you to focus on the topic of time this week. Use your Planet Maths and revise over the first chapter on Time.
Log on to the folens website for your class for some online activities https://www.folensonline.ie/planet-maths
To use Folens books online - fill in a username, email and password, for the roll number use code: Prim20

Try reading the time at home on both the analogue clocks and digital clocks (computer, oven, microwave etc.). Start first getting used to the hour, then half hour, quarter-past and then quarter to. When you are ready 5th Class then you can practice 5 minute intervals and finally one minute intervals.
Then you may also like to play some time based games online to help you practice what you have learned.
Here are some useful websites for time games:
https://www.splashlearn.com/time-games
https://www.arcademics.com/games
https://www.adaptedmind.com/
https://ie.mathgames.com/

There is no pressure on anyone to do all or any of this work. Feel free to try some of the activities if you have the time and maybe somebody at home to help you out. Remember to use the internet safely and always with the help of an adult. These websites are just a guide but if you wish to choose other websites do so carefully and again with the help of an adult.

Best of luck everyone. Don't forget to also enjoy some exercise, some playtime outside and some rest and relaxation too. Healthy minds and healthy bodies! Stay Safe.

Here are some activities that you may wish to try while you are at home. I know you may have some classwork to do too but these are just some other activities you may like to work on. There is no pressure to do so. Try to stay positive and hopefully this will all be over soon and we can return to some normal school life.

Literacy
*Try to read a little everyday. Choose a book that you have at home or there are plenty of online books available to use. Here are some useful websites:

*Try to write each week.
This week you might like to write a simple recipe. We practiced these in school.
You need a title, list of ingredients and a  method.
Maybe this week you could write a recipe on how to make Rice Krispie Buns. It would be fun and easy to start with. Then you might even like to try it out at home with someone. This website might help you to get started. https://www.funkidslive.com/food/chocolate-rice-krispie-cakes/

Maths:
Keep learning your tables as these are very important to all Maths topics.
Revise some from your Maths book that you found difficult.
Use your folens website too to access your class book of Planet Maths.
Use some websites to help you practice your Maths while having some fun too.
Tables practice:

There is a great tables game on the school website under maths games, we have used this a lot in class.
https://www.splashlearn.com/time-games
https://www.arcademics.com

https://www.mathplayground.com/

There are many literacy and numeracy activities available for all levels on
https://www.twinkl.ie/
https://www.scoilnet.ie/
https://www.starfall.com/h/
