Virtual School Tour June 26th 2020
4th Class
22.06.20
Dear Children,
Our annual School Tour will take place on Friday 26th June. Unfortunately this year we will not be touring together and we will have no need for a bus! However, this year’s tour has some positives too:
- You can decide the time of arrival and departure (at your parents’ discretion).
- The tour is free and you can choose from 4 options (at your parents’ discretion).
- You can decide what to wear and which treat to enjoy (at your parents’ discretion).
- You can go on this tour more than once (at your parents’ discretion).
- There is no need to leave the comfort of your own home to catch a bus or to board a flight.
- Enjoy a great opportunity to share feedback with your friends on the tours chosen.
Please see the Virtual School Tour links which I have sent to your parents.
Let’s make this year’s tour one to remember.
Best Regards,
Ms. Kilcommins

Dear Children,
I hope that you are keeping well.
We will have our annual Sports Day on Wednesday 17th June.Unfortunately this year's will be a Sports Day with a difference! However, it can still be a great fun-filled day.
I have posted activities to your parents on Aladdin and have also included an Equipment List and Record Sheet. Many of the activities are not weather-dependent. They can be played both indoors and outdoors and do not require a large amount of space.
I hope that you thoroughly enjoy your day. With your parents' permission you can let me know how your day goes.
Best Regards,
Ms. Kilcommins

Dear Children,
I hope that you are keeping well during this difficult time. The announcement regarding the extension of school closure now sadly means that we will not meet again until September. In the meantime I will continue to send work suggestions each week to your parents and I will also include some useful notes, powerpoints and links on topics being covered.
Every effort made by you over the coming weeks will help to prepare you for 5th Class. It will also give each day structure and routine which we all need as part of a healthy lifestyle. Your parents know that they can contact me if you are finding some work difficult to understand. They also know that they can send on your work for me to review. We will keep in regular contact.
Please continue to keep well, look after yourselves and your families. Take regular exercise and spend time each day doing other fun activities.
Take care for now.
Best Regards,
Ms. Kilcommins

Our school year started with an exciting historical tour of Athboy Town. At the end of this tour the children collected a variety of leaves and nuts which we closely examined during our Geography and Science lesson.

Art:
Trees for All Seasons
Roman Mosaics
Self-Portraits
Halloween:
The children planned, designed and created Halloween Masks.
Guess the Weight of the Pumpkin:
Congratulations to Jazmin who correctly guessed the weight of the pumpkin. Hope that she had hours of fun carving it!
Halloween Dress -Up Time:
Can you recognise anyone?
Religion & SPHE:
Bible Studies
The children actively participated in Bible Studies lessons throughout the year and now feel more confident about using and exploring the bible.
Remembrance Tree:
We had a Remembrance Tree in our classroom for the month of November. We reused a bare tree that had fallen during Hurricane Ophelia. The bare tree represented "Death". The children carefully shaded in some winter leaves and wrote in the names of their deceased at the back of each.
Finally they threaded some wool through the holes and carefully tied the leaves to the branches of the tree.
This beautiful symbol was used as a focal point during November- the month of Our Dead.

Advent:
The children helped to create an Advent Wreath for our classroom. We used this beautiful symbol during our Advent services in preparation for Christmas.

Lá Fhéile Bríde:
In celebration of St. Brigid's Day the children discussed some adjectives to describe St. Brigid. An acrostic was created using some of their adjectives. A scene of the legend showing St. Brigid and the dying chieftain was sketched and rushes were also glued onto the piece.
Someone Like Me Project 2019:
Congratulations to my 4th Class on being selected as county winners in the Someone Like Me Competition. We decided to do a class project in order to combine our individual ideas to create a book of "This is the Life of Someone Like Me" (inspired by the television programme "This is Your Life" by Eamonn Andrews).
Armandas, Jazmin and Lucy represented the class at an Awards Ceremony in Dublin City Hall on December 3rd. They were awarded a beautiful framed certificate signed by Finian Mc Grath, Minister of State for Disabilities and gift vouchers which were given to the school.
