Below is a snapshot of some of the children's work and activities this year.

Bí Cineálta:

In celebration of Bí Cineálta Day the children enjoyed some game time with their friends.

Library Visit:

Athboy library kindly invited us to participate in a Big Book Quiz. The children had great fun working in groups and testing their knowledge. Below are some photos of the winners. Well done to all who participated!

The children planned, designed and created their own Halloween masks.

Pupil Council Elections:

A number of children from our class put themselves forward as candidates for the Pupil Council Election. Each child did a lot of preparation in advance, including designing a poster and writing a speech.

Congratulations to all children involved!

Christmas Decorations:

The children planned, designed and created their own Christmas clay decoration. Each one is unique and beautiful.

St. Brigid's Day Art:

World Book Day:

In celebration of World Book Day the children were invited to come to school dressed as their favourite character or to bring props to represent their favourite character. Can you guess the characters chosen? Well done to all who participated!

Literacy Week:

As part of Literacy Week our class paired up with Ms. Mc Cann's First Class. They enjoyed meeting, reading stories and talking with the First Class children.

Gaeilge:

St. Patrick's Day Art:

This competition was run by St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee.

We decided to do a class project to tie in with the concept of "Heroes". We discussed the differences between "a team of heroes" and "an heroic team". Just as all heroes belong to one team, we believe that our individual class entry represents this sense of unity and oneness.

The children have creatively presented their "Heroes and Legends". Their attachment of concrete materials creates a 3D effect. The placement of the foot on each piece represents the journeys already taken and yet to be taken. The shamrock reminds us of St. Patrick, his journey through life and our Christian journey as we follow in our Patron Saint's footsteps.

Finally, by taking the competition theme as a guide, we came up with a slogan to represent our class entry. Our slogan is:

"Let's follow in the Footsteps of Heroes and Legends!"

"Leanfaimid i gCéimeanna na Laochra agus na Finscéalta!"

Athboy St. Patrick's Day Parade committee kindly awarded our class a special award. They also dropped in some treats for the class to enjoy. We hope that you enjoy viewing our class entry. Congratulations everyone!

Grandparents' Day:

In celebration of Grandparents' Day as part of Catholic Schools' Week the children planned, designed and created "Baubles of Love". Each bauble displayed special memories the children have with their grandparents. They presented these to their grandparents during their special visit to our classroom.

Bible Studies:

As part of our Religion classes this year the children explored our sacred text: The Bible. They learned how to locate different bible references in both the Old and the New Testaments. Having gained the confidence to do this they then progressed to read, to reflect and to answer some questions on the specific bible references found.

Gardening Time:

Below are some photos showing the children planting coriander seeds and also the crop harvested. This special time cultivated patience, responsibility and a connection with nature.

S.T.E.M. (Science Technology English & Maths) Project:

The children had great fun creating Bristle bot Robots.

In-school Art Competition:

An in-school art competition was arranged to promote the theme of "Good School Attendance". Each child was invited to write a slogan and to create a piece of art to promote the theme. The standard of art completed was extremely high. Congratulations to all the children who participated and especially to Michaela who was the overall winner of our class!
