Science - Constructing a boat
The children got the opportunity to construct boats using tinfoil. The aim was to build a boat that could hold the most marbles without sinking. The winning boat managed to hold over 100 marbles. It still hadn't sunk when we ran out of marbles.
Easter Chess Competition
We have some very keen chess players in 3rd class this year. They love taking part in our online competition every Wednesday but it was finally time for an "Over the Board" competition. The children loved using chess clocks for the first time and competing against eachother face to face. Well done to all who took part.
St Patrick's Day
The childen had great fun in the build up to St Patrick's Day. They performed Óró Sé Do Bheatha Abhaile on the Tin Whistle in front of the whole school as well as singing a song as Gaeilge. They also got to dress up in green.
World Book Day
The children got to dress up as their favourite book character for World Book Day. The children put a lot of effort into their costumes and it's fair to say they all look great.
Science Experiment
We carried out an experiment in Science Class to show that water transports up a plant. We poured water into a container, added a drop of food dye, placed a celery stick in the water and observed the results after a day.
Maths Week
The children had great fun during Maths week this year. We set up lots of different stations and had our very own Maths carnival. We invited the 3rd and 4th classes to come to our class and participate.
